This Friday, Juno award winning hip hop artist, Shad will be gracing Dalhousie's Grawood campus bar with his mix of wit, charm, and humble bravado (if you know Shad, you know what we're talking about) Hit "read more" for the details.
Classified returned home last Thursday to a receptive hometown crowd at the Multi-Purpose Center. With special guests Shad, Kayo, Quake, J-Bru and artists like his younger brothers Mic and Jake Boyd, Myles David, and Dutch Robinson, this concert was more then just grimy Hip-Hop beats.
While returning to his home city for a set at Alexander Keith's birthday party, we got a chance to catch up with the very talented Paul "Skratch Bastid" Murphy. Minutes before he got on stage, we got the chance to talk to him about his performance techniques, how he makes his mixes, and how the role of the DJ has changed over time.
So I decided to make a little mix of Canadian Hip Hop tracks, old and
new for this weekend. It was a bit tough finding tracks to fit
together, considering there are a wide range of sounds that fall under
the big blanket of "Hip Hop".
With Osheaga coming up this weekend, it only feels right to give our Haligonians a guide for what to watch out for at this 3 day event taking place on the Ile-Sainte-Elene in Montreal. This event is headlined by a diverse variety of artists which offers something for every music fan.
